Who We Help

Gradient Background

Reduce downtimes to keep
data flowing.

Medical device data provides valuable insights into a patient’s condition, possibly offering early signs of the need for intervention. As a result, data loss can have a major impact on clinical workflow and decision-making. In a world where accurate and timely data is expected for safe and effective clinical decisions, it is crucial to prevent and minimize downtime. VitalCore allows support teams to reduce downtime by enabling 3-5x faster troubleshooting, thus minimizing the risk of delayed response or errors caused by manual documentation.

About

About

Story

Penn Medicine's Medical Device Integration Team outlined an improved method to manage and troubleshoot their integrated medical devices. The project was accepted by UPenn's PRECISE Center in June 2019.

By September 2019, Penn Medicine's team was using the VitalCore application to view, manage and troubleshoot their 3000+ devices using a single webpage.

In September 2021, the technology was spun out into a startup company through Penn Center for Innovation (PCI).

Vision

Our goal is to change the way the industry troubleshoots issues by creating tools that proactively monitor devices to alert staff of issues before the end user report them.

In healthcare, every second of data matters and is needed to power the EHR and medical decision support systems. Device data downtimes can render these systems useless.

We are creating the one-stop-shop for medical device integration management for healthcare organizations that is completely vendor agnostic.

Technology

VitalCore is a web-based application that leverages the organization's existing IT infrastructure to gather data from all integrated medical devices on the network.

VitalCore displays the devices and their HL7 data on a webpage that can be accessed by anyone on the hospital's network.
